Toontrack metal guitar god entry!

The story so far

So it's a fine afternoon and I had the free time to do something,so I thought I'd update you with what's going on!

So far I've been writing with a new project called "Seasons",just compiling ideas and bouncing stuff with my man Sam,back and forth. So yeah,it's still in its foetus stage - long way to go!

With Flesh Forbades,currently thinking of how the song arrangement and the lyrics to go with the songs - this is something I'd like to concentrate more,bringing forth the energy and lyrical meaning of the songs,making powerful songs. At least I'd like to try!

Aside from that,currently composing some instrumentals for the album and getting it done asap because it's easier.

It's easier as compared to "Breaking The Skylines" because we started early on,now I have more time to concentrate more on stuffs as compared to that album!

Currently Uzi is serving his dumb mandatory military stuff so,it's pretty time consuming for him. Props to that guy for making it far man,especially doing something with literally no purpose. Ugh.

Also,while juggling work and passion,I'm currently preparing for a show sometime at the end of the month - details to come soon! Playing some covers and an original. Pretty stoked on the originals more so than the covers though,ha.

Speaking of work,been freelancing for companies here and there during this holiday,just so I can buy some gears (Bass and in-ears,particularly!) to get ready for the FFB record and other stuff!

Went to SGMUSO's gig and there's shitloads of amazing band,just one thing that bugs me is that there's no heavy bands at all which sucks. I hope all the heavy bands out there in Singapore come out more and spread the love man,I feel that we should be widely known as well! Let's do it guys,one day all the heavy bands shall rise! hah.

Apart from that,I'm looking forward to the release of pokemon X and Y this weekend,holy shit!!

Hydrophilia release

2 gigs in 2 days

This past 2 days has been a crazy gig going fest right after my internship! It was an amazing experience hearing all sorts of music,supporting friends,having fun at the gig and seeing people from all walks of life(and I mean,ALL) going to the gig that I watched.

 It was really mind blowing  to see people that you'd that you never thought of listen to band music,just coming down to watch 'em,whatever the reasons are! Very heartening indeed.

Friday was Ignite music fest,it's a student  driven music fest,where it featured local bands that are REAL good and REALLY need the locals' support,good talent can't just go waste just like that!

One band that I really dug is Arajua,despite having delays on their set. They really blew me away with their ambient instrumental music,it's especially hard to convey the music to your heart with just music and I think they pulled it off amazingly well.

Then comes Saturday - Metallica. I'm telling ya,the years I've been waiting for any heavy stuff. Like back to the roots heavy,heavy. 

5 to 6 hours of standing and watching opening bands leading right up to Metallica,was definitely excruciating. I really thought I'd pass out! 

Metallica then came after some delay and everyone really went crazy when they played master of puppets which was the 2nd song. 

A lot of ups and downs,in the performance. However the energy was there,I'm so amazed at how the guys are able to give us this much energy despite their age. And they even gave us an encore,ending the whole night with Battery. 

Fuck,after the whole performance - My back was about to break,thirsty. In fact,everyone came out to the indoor exhibition center and literally sitting down - trying to rest. I'm telling you,this is really heavy though I really loved every moment of it,sincerely.

Never in my life of going gigs,had I been as sincerely happy as this. Then I've realized something that we'd had to do as musicians,though I'd really like to explain it, I can't really explain it because it's something that everyone has to find on their own. But whatever it is,I believe it's something sincere and I'd like to work towards it. 

All in all,amazing experience from the 2 gigs. Props to the production people and bands.

xhana EP announcement!

I will be releasing my debut project,under the name "xhana"(pronounced as eks-ha-na). The EP is going be a self-titled EP,and will consist of 5 tracks and 1 bonus track! 

It's all classical music,in its core - with my twist on it!

It'll be a self-release on Bandcamp and perhaps other digital media outlets as well,on the 7th September 2013.

xhana EP updates no. Umpteenth

So currently I'm checking the whole final mixes,seeing what needs to fixed and stuff like that. It's a really tedious job to do,because there's so much things you'd have to identify and rectify.
Mastering the track would be in a few days time,once everything is settled tonight. Can't wait to register my songs into gracenote and putting it out to the whole world!

I really like this whole making an album/EP kinda thing!  I hope,somewhere..somehow this would be worthwhile.

I'll post the drafts for now here only,pretty simple but I really love the vibe of the art that completely came out of nowhere.

The track listing are not yet ready in terms of order,but that's all there is in the EP!(Definitely need some time to hear the whole EP and determine what fits!haha)

One thing to clarify - It's going to be a classical music EP,nothing much like what I normally do(heavy stuff,haha).

Audio interfaceeee

I remember Ariff,a good producer in crime with me,lending it to me during the recording of breaking the skylines. I recorded the vocals with a MXL drum condenser mike for singing, and an SM58 for growls.

Loved how easy it was to use,plug and use,awesome piece of gear to use especially of you need to set up a recording almost instantly!

With that,the last piece of the puzzle for the home recording setup is finished after how many years of wait(I've wanting this since like,15?16?),god!

I will be recording Flesh Forbades album 2 with this babies. Just so stoked to try this.

Last but not least,it's time for the final hurdle - Agile guitar,7 strings,left handed.

So since finding out that TSE Audio released the OSX version for TSE808 and the bass overdrive,Imma try those two virtual gears for a spin. 

Can't fuckin' wait,heard sound samples of both of them and they sounded awesome!

As for the EP,currently 1 song is ready for the mixing stage. 4 more songs left!

Oh,and I'm getting an audio interface tomorrow,so excited for that since we can start the prepro of Flesh Forbades's second album anytime soon after we get this. 

Also,metallica is coming in town this August . Hopefully the front row tickets are still on sale!

New microphone

So the first pay has arrived and it's high time I bought some essential things for my home studio.

First off is the MXL2010 mike! Next up is line 6 pod HD pro and the MIDI key board,and savin' up the rest!

So yeah still a long way to go,wheew.

As for the EP,I'm currently reviewing the songs and stuff like that. Making sure what I visioned comes into reality and stuff like that. Arrangement wise,I'm keeping it simple for now!

Currently I'm on internship so it sucks up all my energy only to go home at night just resting and strumming on keesha. So,it's unfortunate but I'm going to have to not do the documentary :/! HOWEVER,We(Flesh Forbades) are currently demo-ing out our 2nd album. So far we have 6 un-completed song and 2 roughly done. Breaking The Skylines Documentary on the way..

So,I realise that the album needs some talking about what it's all about and all that. I've been meaning to do a documentary but me being a vain pot wouldn't allow me because I've been getting pimples here and there. Just been getting so bad a sleep till everything on my face is somewhat haywire,haha. But fortunately it's already cooled down. So perhaps the first episode may come in a about a few days.

Breaking The Skylines

Ah,after 2 years of planning. I'm glad to announce that my band/recording project's first release is here,entitled: Breaking The Skylines.

There's so much I'd like to say but it often just goes away,maybe because I'd rather the music speak for itself then me having to embellish it.

But if I had to say it out; I think I've my fingers to the bones trying to make sense of what's mixing,mastering,recording at home. And even to the core of composing.

It's been about 4 years of researching and going through countless hours trying to reach a decent guitar tone,practicing to get a decent voice,hearing music just to understand what musicians of particular instruments would be playing;picking their brains.

Over the period of making this,I'm glad to say I'm proud to say I learnt something about myself;something I never even knew I had it in me. However the people that I must compliment is my family and friends and even animes,surprisingly. They were completely instrumental,one way or another. They helped me,well.. to conquer myself. Like what zacky V mentioned,the best revenge is conquering yourself,and fortunately - I did that.

Now what the future holds for me is to improve myself more in so many more ways. I want to be at the top,known in america,known in the world. Give the kids of the next generation a ray of hope that music in singapore wasn't a lost cause,like what older people have said.

I guess now, the next installment of this whole breaking the skylines series is the documentary and not mentioning me and Uzi making great music to the best of our abilities for our 2nd album, in which we're in the middle of writing.
